Nathaniel Glen Miller Jr (born 24 July 2000), better known by his stage name, C.h.a.m.p is an American rapper, musical artist and songwriter. He is best known for his album Therapy, as well as his most notable song is Baby Debo. C.h.a.m.p is known for his motivating story, when faced almost death in 2019 when he was shot in the head. He underwent a life-changing phase and chose songwriting and music to uncover his artistic side and for mental and emotional therapy. C.h.a.m.p rose to fame for his representation of popular angst and heart touching lyrics inspired from his life story. Right after his first release, he was able to receive the attention of music lovers. His acclaimed works are widely regarded and his hit song “Baby Debo,” would also inspire another alias for the artist. From 2021, C.h.a.m.p has been actively participating in various events in the music industry.
C.h.a.m.p was born as Nathaniel Glen Miller Jr on July 24,2000 in Mesquite, Texas. Growing up, C.h.a.m.p was a standout football player, and ultimately received athletic scholarships to play running back at the collegiate level. Although two weeks into college, on August 31, 2019, he suffered a gunshot to the head at an off-campus house Drake University. He subsequently underwent 5 months of therapy, It was during his recovery that he began songwriting, both for mental and emotional therapy. The shooter, Drake basketball player Tremell Murphy, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of making false reports to law enforcement and discharging a firearm within city limits. Growing up C.h.a.m.p gravitated to hip hop legends like 50 Cent, soaking up his journey to the top. Little did he know, he would begin his own route to attain the status of that caliber himself.
During the life-changing phase, C.h.a.m.p pledged in his heart that the same music which got him through the most trying time in his life would become his career path. From that moment forward, he became C.h.a.m.p aka Baby Debo inspired by his mantra, “Change Happens at My Pace” and this is where he decided to coin the rap name “C.h.a.m.p,” In 2021, C.H.A.M.P released his debut EP Paper Route, some of his songs became very popular including Obsessed and Win, which is also his first music video. A month later, C.h.a.m.p released his most popular song Baby Debo, which is the second track to his following EP YOLO. Featured in mainstream publications such as The Source Magazine, Allhiphop and HipHopWeekly gained C.h.a.m.p notability early in his career.
In 2022, C.h.a.m.p announced his debut studio album, “Therapy” that released March 3, 2022. The album features his own personal experience, his mindframe and mental battles that he had during 5 months in rehabilitation, which has changed C.h.a.m.p life for the better and for the worse. He is often compared with industry peers such as rapper 50 cent, and in an article on Swagger Magazine, it was stated that is still ahead of metal fragments in his mind two years later.
